The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software products and services, leveraging AWS components with Java technologies.This is an exciting time for Octaura as we are rapidly growing and are looking for energetic, collaborative and driven thinkers to join us! Please note this role is based out of our NYC office and our current structure is 4 days in the office, 1 day from home.Core responsibilities
  • Create overall technology standards and practices and ensure adherence. Lead the strategy, planning, execution, and growth of the technology roadmap, platform architecture & OKR's
  • Code alongside and lead the development team
  • Manage software development projects by setting technical requirements, goals and time lines
  • Oversee front-end and back-end development teams
  • Design strategies for future development projects based on the company's overall objectives and resources
  • Ensure proper performance monitoring of our tools and platforms
  • Ensure compliance with security regulations
  • Review and update policies relevant to internal systems and equipment
  • Hire engineers and coordinate their training; manage and lead the team
  • Implement innovative technologies
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders for new integrations and tools
  • Integrate and develop reliability and performance monitoring of all internal systems to suggest improvements
  • Review and optimize software development processes to ensure consistent, predictable, and on-time delivery of each product release
  • The role will take responsibilities to design and develop applications to handle new trading processing workflow for new products
  • Manage developing with inhouse resources but also integrating/coordinating with external vendors
  • Maintain a close partnership with the Product team to collectively bring high-quality deliverables, consistent with dev methodologies and processes (including Agile/scrum), to our clients

Desired qualifications
  • BSc/MSc in Engineering, Computer Science or relevant field
  • 10+ years of previous work experience as a software engineer or other relevant leadership & technology role, ideally in financial industry
  • 5+ years of people management experience and prior experience hiring/growing teams
  • Hands-on experience in back-end and front-end development
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and full SDLC
  • Leadership abilities with a strategic mind
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Experience with cloud technologies and modern UI framework
  • Extensive knowledge of software development, database, and web-platform technologies
  • Demonstrated experience with architecting complex platforms and developing enterprise-level technology roadmaps
  • Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing processes for development, QA, security, and IT
  • Quick learner and problem solver
  • Keep abreast of new trends and best practices in the technology Take the initiative in thought leadership, innovation, and creativity

The base pay range for this position in New York is $175,000 - $225,000 annually. Pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Equity and year-end bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
