This position is based out of San Francisco
We’re looking for a Solutions Architect to join our Customer Success team. This role will report to the Head of Customer Success, and is a key investment as part of our strategy to expand Modern Treasury Professional Services to our growing customer base.
In this role:
You will design optimal implementation frameworks for customers, dive into complex technical requirements, collaborate closely with Product and Engineering on roadmap and product design, and work alongside our Customer Success and Customer Support teams to help customers get maximum value from Modern Treasury.
You will work closely with Sales Engineers in the post-sale process to do deep discovery into our customers’ technical, financial, and operations needs, and use this information to design solutions. This will involve whiteboarding (virtual or in-person where possible), building out detailed solution design documents, and guiding customers’ development plans. Modern Treasury Solutions Architects are trusted advisors to our customers.
Internally, you’ll be the technical voice of the customer and should be constantly learning and teaching our products. You’ll develop a broad understanding of our customers’ cross-product needs and use this unique perspective to provide feedback to the Product org on roadmap planning and product design. You’ll teach Customer Success Managers about the value our products deliver.
As an early member of our SA function you will also shape our processes, tools, and strategy.
We’re looking for someone who has experience with REST API based solution design, some experience writing code themselves, and either knows or is interested in learning payment systems, finance processes, and accounting fundamentals.

WEEK BY WEEK
During your first week you will:
Complete our company onboarding process where you will learn all about Modern Treasury – our values, our history, our product, our brand – and meet various teams via small-group sessions alongside your onboarding peers.
Get acquainted with our products with self-guided as well as hands-on training with an onboarding buddy.
Develop an understanding of our customers, user personas, sales process, and customer stories.
Read our favorite industry primers.
During your first six weeks you will:
Meet and build relationships with leaders and members of the Customer Success, Engineering, Product, Sales, Sales Engineering, and Marketing teams.
Shadow Solutions Architects, Sales Engineers, and CSMs on customer engagements. Through this, you will gain a deep understanding of our customers, their use cases, and the various stages of their journey with Modern Treasury.
Spend a lot of time reading API docs, build your own applications against MT APIs, start creating solution designs for customers, join customer meetings, and lead your own meetings by week six.
During your first six months you will:
Take your first customers from initial implementation through launch.
Become an expert on our products, answering questions for every customer-facing team.
Build out the processes, knowledge base, and collateral that will shape the future of the SA team.
What we’re looking for:
3+ years experience in customer-facing, technical roles at B2B SaaS companies in one or more of the following functions: technical architect or solutions architect, sales engineering, customer success, product management, or engineering.
Experience with REST API based solution design. Knowledge of web connectivity and integration protocols such as JSON / XML, file transfer protocols such as FTP / FTPS / SFTP, API tools such as Postman, and API concepts such as idempotency and pagination.
Excellent communication skills. You’ll write more enablement material than you’ll read.
Technical curiosity. Desire to get your hands dirty diving into technical specs.
Finance and / or accounting knowledge is a plus.
