JOB DESCRIPTION

Green Dot is looking for a Head of Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to lead our software quality assurance engineering efforts. This is a challenging role where you will take charge as the leader of a large and globally distributed quality organization. You will own and drive the strategic vision for software quality; establish, evolve, and enhance quality methodology; and build quality standards and best practices across multiple focus areas within the SDET / QA organization.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all application quality assurance efforts, including mobile, web, frontend, 3rd party solutions
• Lead, and mentor a diverse, globally distributed team of Software Quality Assurance Engineers
• Develop complex API, web and mobile based applications testing practice that reference database back-end systems.
• Ensures overall system quality prior to a customer release.
• Establish and lead a quality obsessed, automation-first culture that believes quality is built in from the very beginning
• Continuously improve formal SDET / QA processes, ensuring that the team is using industry-accepted best practices.
• Define and drive the strategic vision for quality improvements at Green Dot
• Define and monitor quality metrics, quality methodology, quality reporting, test architecture, and best practices
• Work with Principal Engineers and Architects on establishing a holistic test strategy, encompassing all range of tests, from unit to functional
• Work with Product Management and UX to understand business needs and ensure quality is built in throughout the process
• People management responsibilities include but are not limited to hiring and staffing, coaching and mentoring, professional development, problem solving, evaluation, and performance management.
• Lead all aspects of budgeting and reporting associated with your organization

Skills & Experience

• Professional experience with advanced programming skills who design, develop, and test automation tools and frameworks
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent education or experience
• 10+ years of experience in Testing and Software Quality Assurance preferably in either a Software Development Engineer or (SDET) Software Development Engineer in Test role.
• 5+ years of experience in SDET / Software Quality Engineering or Automation as a practitioner
• 5+ years of experience leading teams including both Manual and Automation, 3+ years leading globally distributed teams
• Knowledge and experience within financial services, payments or banking industry is required
• Proven experience creating automation frameworks and tools to support test automation
• Good Analytical skills and experience in all types of testing, including unit, integration, system, functional, non-functional, performance, benchmark, load, and stress testing
• Experience leading ambiguous situations, dealing with technical issues and coming up with effective solutions to ensure customer project deliverables. Experience testing infrastructure and infrastructure as code optional but desired
• An intense passion for automation and an automation-first strategy
• Experience defines testing methodology, test metrics, and test reporting mechanisms
• Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
• Cloud Experience, such as Azure, AWS
• Experienced with a variety of automated testing tools and strategies
• Prepared to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation, agility, and adaptability are highly prized.
• A strong bias for execution, leading progress, and simple perfection

PAY RANGE

The targeted base salary for this position is $196,000 to $279,200 per year. The final compensation will be determined by a number of factors such as qualifications, expertise, and the candidate’s geographical location.
