Head of Technical Program management  

This role will report directly to the SVP of Product, Data.  The Data organization is the newest product area at Adyen, and is chartered to build the next business line for Adyen. We will do this by leveraging our data assets and ML capabilities to build products and services that can create value for our merchants and partner ecosystem. 

The Head of Technical Program Management plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of complex technical programs and projects. This senior leadership position requires a seasoned program management professional who can provide strategic direction, inspire teams, and drive results. 

What you’ll do:

  • Program Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and direction for the technical program management function, ensuring alignment with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Team Management: Build and lead a high-performing technical program management team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members.
  • Program Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute comprehensive program plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Risk Management: Identify and proactively manage risks and issues related to program delivery, implementing mitigation plans as needed to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including executive leadership, to provide regular updates on program status, milestones, and any critical issues.
  • Resource Management: Optimize resource allocation, including personnel and budget, to maximize program efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all programs adhere to industry best practices and quality standards, continuously seeking opportunities for process improvement.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for program success and regularly report on progress to the leadership team.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and partners as necessary for program success.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the program management team, identifying areas for enhancement in processes and methodologies.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical or business field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in technical program management, with a track record of successfully leading complex initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align program objectives with company goals.
  • Proficiency in program management software and tools.
  • PMP, PgMP, or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Other Job Details

  • This role will be based out of our Chicago office. We have a hybrid workplace and value in-person collaboration; we do not offer remote-only roles.
  • This role requires domestic and international travel
